Elizabeth Warren has fueled speculation she may run for president in 2020.
The liberal Massachusetts senator has just announced she will join the Armed Services Committee in 2017, a move many suspect signals a presidential run.
Warren brushed off presidential rumors on a local Massachusetts TV interview, saying instead her focus as member of the committee would be to “make sure there’s support and oversight on the safety of national security.”
A vocal opponent of president-elect Donald Trump, a spot on the Armed Services Committee will allow Warren to speak out against the Trump administration regarding military spending and security, a move Democracy for America spokesman, Neil Sroka, is happy about.
“Seeing Elizabeth Warren on the Armed Services Committee and seeing her range of knowledge and experience grow is an unmitigated good thing for the Democratic party,” Sroka told The Hill.
