Melania Trump announced her first major initiative as First Lady – a campaign simply titled Be Best, which will focus on the overall well-being of children.

In an official announcement at the White House, the First Lady revealed, “As a mother and as first lady, it concerns me that in today’s fast-paced and ever-connected world, children can be less prepared to express or manage their emotions and often times turn to forms of destructive or addictive behavior such as bullying, drug addiction or even suicide.”

The First Lady hopes the new Be Best campaign will help children to be the best they can be on their individual paths, whilst also teaching them about social, emotional and physical health.

Mrs. Trump, who along with the president has taken a keen interest in curbing the opioid crisis affecting the country, said the campaign will focus on three pillars – opioid abuse, social media, and well-being.

“If we truly listen to what our kids have to say, whether it be their concerns or ideas, adults can provide them the support and the tools they need to grow up to be happy and productive adults who contribute to positively to society and their global communities,” the First Lady said during her official announcement.

“BE BEST will champion the many successful programs that provide children with the tools and skills required for emotional, social and physical health,” the White House ‘Be Best’ website promises of the initiative. “The campaign will also promote established organizations, programs, and people who are helping children overcome some of the issues they face growing up in the modern world.”
