Jackie Evancho, the 16-year-old singer who performed at Donald Trump’s inauguration, has sent a heartfelt plea to the president.

Hot on the heels of Trump’s administration to roll back protection for transgender students, Jackie, whose sister is transgender, sent President Trump a tweet requesting he meet with her and her sister to discuss transgender rights.

In the Tweet, Jackie writes, “u gave me the honor 2 sing at your inauguration. Pls give me & my sis the honor 2 meet with u 2 talk #transgender rights.”

Earlier the young opera singer had tweeted out her disappointment in the administration’s stance on transgender rights, writing, “I am obviously disappointed in the @POTUS decision to send #transgender bathroom issues to the states to decide. #sisterlove.”

In an interview with Good Morning America Jackie, along with her sister, sat down to discuss the issue with Jackie revealing she had not heard from President Trump following her tweet:

“I guess I just want to enlighten him on what my sister, I’ve seen her go through every single day in school and people just like her, what they deal with…the discrimination, it’s terrible,” Jackie revealed.

Jackie’s 18-year-old sister Juliet is a transgender rights advocate.
