Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to a bouncing 8 lb. 7 oz. baby boy!

An official statement from Kensington Palace shared the happy news, writing, “Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101 hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.”

“The Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news,” the statement read. “Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.”

The little prince was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in London, just like siblings George and Charlotte, with self-proclaimed Royal Town Crier, Tony Appleton, announcing the news on the hospital steps.

According to The Sun newspaper, it is likely Prince William will bring Prince George and Princess Charlotte to visit their new baby brother in the hospital and have revealed William and Kate’s newest edition is the biggest royal baby to be born in 100 years!

It is expected Buckingham Palace will release the prince’s name within the next few days, with bets being placed on favorites Albert and Arthur.

The royal tot is fifth in line to the British throne after Prince Charles, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. His birth marks the first time in history that a boy will not precede his sister in the royal line of succession.
