Ivanka Trump reportedly sent hundreds of emails pertaining to government business from her personal email account last year, according to the Washington Post.

Citing sources familiar with a White House examination of her correspondence, the Washington Post revealed many of the emails, sent to White House aides, Cabinet officials and her assistants, were in violation of federal records rules.

A White House ethics review found throughout much of 2017 Ivanka often “discussed or relayed official White House business using a private email account with a domain that she shares with her husband, Jared Kushner,” the Washington Post reports.

Ivanka’s use of a personal email account reportedly alarmed some advisers to President Trump, writes the Washington Post, with some aides startled by the shear volume of personal emails Ms. Trump sent together with her explanation that she was not familiar with rules pertaining to the use of a personal email.

According to the Washington Post, people close to Ivanka revealed the first daughter told White House lawyers she was “unaware” she was breaking any White House rules and a further investigation revealed she had not been receiving “White House updates and reminders to all staffers about prohibited use of private email.”

A spokesman for Ivanka Trump’s attorney and ethics counsel Abbe Lowell said in a statement, “While transitioning into government, after she was given an official account but until the White House provided her the same guidance they had given others who started before she did, Ms. Trump sometimes used her personal account, almost always for logistics and scheduling concerning her family. Ms. Trump did not create a private server in her house or office, no classified information was ever included, the account was never transferred at Trump Organization, and no emails were ever deleted.”

During the focus of his 2016 campaign, President Trump focused on Hillary Clinton’s use of her personal email account while Secretary of State, nicknaming her “Crooked Hillary.”
