Actor and Comedian Jim Carrey has announced he is deleting his Facebook page and “dumping” stock he owns in the social media company due to Russian election meddling.
I’m dumping my @facebook stock and deleting my page because @facebook profited from Russian interference in our elections and they’re still not doing enough to stop it. I encourage all other investors who care about our future to do the same. #unfriendfacebook pic.twitter.com/KHWgZzhhmp

The actor posted the news on Twitter, telling fans, “I’m dumping my @facebook stock and deleting my page because @facebook profited from Russian interference during our elections and they’re still not doing enough to stop it. I encourage all other investors who care about our future to do the same.”
Carrey ended his tweet with the hashtag unfriendfacebook.
According to Business Insider, Facebook testified to Congress “Russian-backed content reached as many as 126 million Americans during and after the 2016 election.”

Had deactivated & stopped using @facebook a year ago. Today, inspired by @JimCarrey, I have permanently deleted my account. They continue to profit from #Russian interference & compromise our democracy. Hit them in the wallet. Your life was fine before it. #UnfriendFacebook pic.twitter.com/4JG8gKUPkb

I deactivated my FB last summer and will never go back. Especially knowing their dark side. FB is just not necessary. #unfriendfacebook

I already deleted my Facebook account about 9 months ago. That thing is toxic for humanity. #unfriendfacebook
