Monday marked the kick off of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio. The night was full of speeches from the former Mayor of New York Rudy Giuliani to Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn with the focal point surrounding “Making America Safe Again.”

Perhaps one of the most buzzed about speeches came from presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s wife, Melania Trump.

Following her speech, people began commenting about the resemblance between she and Michelle Obama’s speech during the 2008 Democratic National Convention, some calling it plagiarism.

Trump’s campaign chairman Paul Manafort vehemently slammed accusations that Mrs. Trump’s speech was a result of plagiarism. He released a statement to CNN claiming, “There’s no cribbing of Michelle Obama’s speech. These are common words and values — that she cares about her family, things like that. She was speaking in front of 35 million people last night; she knew that. To think that she would be cribbing Michelle Obama’s words is crazy.”

Manafort added, “To think that she would do something like that, knowing how scrutinized her speech was going to be last night, is just really absurd.”
