In a video posted to his Twitter account, former U.S. Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has announced his decision to run for the U.S. Senate seat in Utah.

The move follows months of speculation following Utah Senator Orrin Hatch’s announcement in January he would be retiring from politics.
Romney, a vocal critic of President Trump, revealed in the announcement, “I’ve decided to run for the United States Senate because I’ve decided I can help bring Utah’s values and Utah’s lessons to Washington.”
“Given all that America faces, we feel that this is the right time for me to serve our state and our country,” the former Massachusetts Governor said in the video.
