Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is, for the time being, taking impeachment off the table for Democrats, saying it would “divide the country.”

In an interview with the Washington Post Pelosi said, “Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.”

Pelosi also revealed in the interview she doesn’t believe Donald Trump is fit to be President of the United States.

“I mean, ethically unfit. Intellectually unfit. Curiosity-wise unfit,” Pelosi told the Washington Post. “No, I don’t think he’s fit to be president of the United States.”

Pelosi’s views on the possibility of impeachment proceedings against Trump are nothing new. In an interview with CNN’s State of the Union in 2017, Pelosi revealed, “It’s not someplace I think we should go.”
