A defiant Roy Moore has refused to concede the Senate race.
The Alabama Republican told the audience during a speech late Tuesday evening, “When the vote is this close it’s not over.”
Democrat Doug Jones beat the conservative Moore in the race with 49.92 percent of the vote, compared to Moore’s 48.38 percent.
Moore gave his speech to his supporters shortly after the results were in, telling the crowd not all votes were counted.
“We’ve still got to go by the rules about this recount provisions,” Moore said during his speech. “We also know that God is always in control…And that’s what we’ve got to do, is wait on God and let this process play out.”
Congratulations to Doug Jones on a hard fought victory. The write-in votes played a very big factor, but a win is a win. The people of Alabama are great, and the Republicans will have another shot at this seat in a very short period of time. It never ends!
