This means farewell to the Windows Phone chapter in smartphone history and most Windows smartphone users will now be using an unsupported handset. As a result of stiff competition from Android and iOS Microsoft have given up producing its Lumia branded hardware.
According to The Verge, 99.6 percent of all new smartphones now operate iOS or Android.
