Uber CEO Travis Kalanick has revealed he will take a temporary leave from the company following the death of his mother.

Kalanick’s mother was killed and his father seriously injured following a boating accident in May.

According to Huffpost Kalanick revealed he would be taking time off to grieve the loss of his mom and did not indicate when he would return to work. In the meantime, Kalanick stated his leadership team would be running Uber in his absence.

Uber and Kalanick have come under scrutiny following allegations of misconduct and sexual harassment in the workplace, with Uber hiring former U.S Attorney General Eric Holder to conduct an investigation into those allegations.
