Twitter has announced they are permanently banning right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, along with his “Infowars” show, from creating new accounts on the platform, or taking over existing ones.
The ban comes after Jones posted a video to the platform on Wednesday, which Twitter says violates the company policy against “abusive behavior”, according to the Associated Press.
In the video, shared Wednesday on Twitter, Jones is shown “shouting at and berating CNN journalist Oliver Darcy for some ten minutes in between two congressional hearings focused on social media,” after he accosted Darcy in a public hallway where reporters were waiting to enter the House committee room, according to the AP.
Jone had approximately 900,000 followers on Twitter and “Infowars” had around 430,000.
