Apple’s flagship New York City store is coping with a major infestation of bed bugs, according to the New York Post.
The blood-sucking pests, which are notoriously difficult to get rid of, have reportedly been spotted at the store over the past few weeks.
“There was a mass exodus,” an unidentified employee told the New York Post upon discovering the creepy little bugs. “Employees were freaking out. They felt really unsafe and management kept giving them the runaround.”
According to the New York Post, it all started after an employee found a bed bug on a table during an overnight shift. The Post says employees believe the critter was brought in by one of the store’s homeless visitors who frequent the 5th Avenue 24-hour retailer.
Management called in an exterminator, but it seems to no avail with an employee once again finding a bed bug in the manager’s office on Friday and another critter found lounging on an employee’s sweater.
“I shouldn’t have to go to work feeling unsafe and unprotected,” an employee told the New York Post.
