President Trump’s daughter-in-law Vanessa Trump has filed for divorce from the president’s eldest son, Donald J. Trump Jr.

“After 12 years of marriage, we have decided to go our separate ways,” the couple said in a joint statement. “We will always have tremendous respect for each other and our families. We have five beautiful children together and they remain our top priority. We ask for privacy during this time.”

The couple met in 2003 when Trump Jr’s father introduced them at a fashion show. They wed at Mar-a-Lago in 2005.

According to The New York Times, Vanessa – a former model – filed for divorce on Thursday in a Manhattan court, with Page Six reporting she filed for an uncontested proceeding, meaning she’s not likely to fight her ex for custody of their children, or their assets.

Just last month Vanessa and her mother were hospitalized as a precaution after Vanessa opened an envelope containing an unknown white substance, later found to be cornstarch.

Page Six were the first to report the couple may be having marital difficulties due to Trump Jr’s “travels and controversial tweets.”
