Facebook has announced they will hand over to congress 3,000 political ads linked to Russia.
The company revealed on Sunday they would hand over copies of all the ads they have found, together with information related to how much each ad cost and the target audience.
The approximately 3,000 ads – at a combined cost of $100,000 – were bought by people in Russia in the months leading up to the 2016 presidential election. The information from Facebook will be handed over to U.S congressional investigators looking into Russian interference in the election.
Last month Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg released a video disclosing steps the company would take to avoid further foreign interference in elections and preserve the “integrity of the democratic process.”
