George H.W. Bush’s service dog, Sully, was on hand to pay a special tribute to the late president in a Memorial Day photo.

Sully, who was awarded the Paw of Courage award earlier this year by the American Kennel Club, posed next to the 41st president’s National World War II Memorial in Washington D.C., which commemorated Bush’s Distinguished Flying Cross award for his service as a U.S. Navy pilot.

The sentimental shot of the late president’s beloved dog was shared on Sully’s Instagram page with a quote from George H.W. Bush, reading “Each of the patriots whom we remember on this day was first a beloved son or daughter, a brother or sister, or a spouse, friend, and neighbor” – George H.W. Bush.”

“Always thinking of my best friend & the bravest military in the world 🇺🇸 who made the ultimate sacrifice while defending our country for our freedoms,” Sully’s Instagram post shared.
