Is pop star Gwen Stefani the reason Donald Trump ran for president? Michael Moore seems to think so.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, this week the director made the startling claim Trump decided to run for president after learning Gwen made more money as a judge on NBC’s The Voice than he did for NBC’s The Apprentice and that jealousy was his motivation.
“He’d been talking about running for president since 1998, but he really didn’t want to be president,” Moore said. “There’s no penthouse in the White House. And he really doesn’t want to live in a black city. He was trying to pit NBC against another network, but it just went off the rails.”
Moore told The Hollywood Reporter he believes Trump organized his Trump Tower campaign announcement to show NBC he was more popular.
NBC later cut ties with Trump after he stated Mexico were sending rapists across the border, but by then The Hollywood Reporter writes, “Trump, suddenly finding himself cheered on my massive crowds and an indulgent media, figured why not make a serious run for the highest office in the land?”
