Justice Dept. Investigating Chris Christie

The Justice Department is investigating whether former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, Marc Kasowitz, and others representing a fugitive Malaysian businessman were paid with laundered funds.

According to Business Insider, Christie and Kasowitz were part of a legal team representing Malaysian businessman Jho Low, who allegedly embezzled $4.5 billion from a Malaysian fund called 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

The Justice Department is investigating whether Low used those embezzled funds to pay legal expenses.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Christie is representing Low in the State of California against in an asset-forfeiture case where civil lawsuits have been filed against Low by the Justice Department to recover assets he allegedly purchased using the embezzled funds. Those assets include expensive art and a yacht.

Kasowitz is representing Low in Justice Department matters.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting at present there is no tangible evidence to show anyone who received payments from Low were aware the money came from embezzled funds.
