If you’re looking to get your feet on the property ladder Bankrate.com has compiled their list of the top 10 metropolitan areas for first-time homebuyers.

The nation’s 50 largest Metropolitan areas were ranked on 13 measures including safety, culture, job market, affordability, market tightness, and culture. The study included data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Realtor.com, the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program, the Gallup-Sharecare Well-Being Index, and Attom Data Solutions.

Bankrate.com placed Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the top spot thanks to its affordability and safety.

The Top Ten Best Cities for First-Time Homebuyers according to Bankrate are:

1. Pittsburgh, PA
2. Raleigh, NC
3. Oklahoma City, OK
4. Hartford, CT
5. St. Louis, MO
6. Cincinnati, OH
7. Buffalo, NY
8. Minneapolis, MN
9. Kansas City, MO
10. Virginia Beach, VA

On the other end of the spectrum, the worst metro areas for first-time homebuyers, according to Bankrate.com are:

1. San Francisco, CA
2. Los Angeles, CA
3. Sacramento, CA
4. San Jose, CA
5. Seattle, WA
6. San Bernardino, CA
7. San Diego, CA
8. Las Vegas, NV
9. Miami, FL
10. Memphis, TN
