First Lady Melania Trump has settled her lawsuit against the Daily Mail newspaper after it published an article alleging “racy” rumors about Melania when she was a single model.
The British tabloid has been forced to print a retraction and has paid an unspecified amount of money in damages and costs to Mrs. Trump.
The original article, which was published back in August 2016 was captioned, “Racy photos and troubling questions about his wife’s past that could derail Trump”. It alleged the couple met three years before they actually did and made statements that the then Melania Knauss “provided services beyond simply modeling” – a statement they have now retracted.
The First Lady sued the tabloid in British courts and sued Mail Online in US courts.

The Daily Mail issued a statement, saying, “We accept that these allegations about Mrs Trump are not true and we retract and withdraw them. We apologize to Mrs. Trump for any distress that our publication caused her. To settle Mrs Trump’s two lawsuits against us, we have agreed to pay her damages and costs.”
