President Trump Open to Raising Gas Tax

In an interview with Bloomberg President Trump revealed he is open to raising the the federal tax on gasoline.

“It’s something that I would certainly consider,” Trump said. “If we earmarked money towards the highways.”

In a briefing with reporters, White House press secretary, Sean Spicer elaborated on the president’s comments saying, “What the president said during that interview is that folks from the industry had come to him and expressed to him how the deteriorating roads were affecting their ability to deliver goods and services throughout this country, and they had expressed a willingness to see something like that as a way to help pay for and repair the roads and bridges.”

There has not been a hike from the Federal Government on the excise gasoline tax since 1993.
