The White House have revealed which charities will receive a portion of President Trump’s personal $1 million donation to aid those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The donation will be split among 12 non-profits, with the two largest donations going to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army who would get $300,000 each.

The remaining charities to benefit from the President’s donation are Samaritan’s Purse, Reach Out America, Operation Blessing International, Catholic Charities, the Houston Humane Society, the RSPCA, Team Rubicon, Portlight Inclusive Disaster Strategies and Direct Relief.
In a statement from the White House, it was revealed Trump reached his decision after he and the First Lady visited the parts of Texas hit by Harvey and witnessed first hand the work being done by some of the charities. The president also took recommendations from members of the White House Press Corps in choosing which charities to donate to.
