The episode, hosted by Dave Chappelle, opened with Kate McKinnon as Hillary, seated at a piano singing Leonard Cohen’s infamous song “Hallelujah.”

Canadian poet and composer, Cohen, passed away on November 10th. The emotional portrayal of McKinnon’s Hillary singing Hallelujah’s haunting lyrics won praise across social media. At the end of the performance McKinnon turned to the camera and said, “I’m not giving up, and neither should you. And live from New York, it’s Saturday night.”

Missing from Saturday’s episode was Alec Baldwin as Donald Trump, who told WNYC‘s The Brian Lehrer Show “I’m trying to shed the Donald Trump cloak.”
